Food and Beverage Logistics Services

Plan food and beverage logistics for refrigerated, frozen, chilled, shelf-stable, and packaged products around the product, the pickup condition, and the receiver's schedule. Tetrix Transport arranges FTL, LTL, temperature-controlled, dry van, warehousing, drop trailer, and qualified cross-border transportation across North America.

FOOD & BEVERAGE LOGISTICS

Food freight planning starts before the trailer reaches the dock.

The rate is only one part of a food shipment. Product temperature, packaging, trailer condition, pickup readiness, seal procedures, shelf life, delivery appointments, and receiver instructions can determine whether the load arrives as expected or is delayed at the dock.

Tetrix Transport provides food and beverage logistics as a freight brokerage and transportation coordinator for producers, ingredient suppliers, processors, bottlers, distributors, foodservice companies, retailers, and their vendors. We arrange food freight shipping through full truckload freight, LTL, refrigerated, dry van, warehousing, drop trailer, and qualified cross-border service based on the actual product and operating requirements.

FOOD & BEVERAGE FREIGHT

How shippers use food and beverage logistics

Start with the shipment profile closest to yours. Final equipment and service depend on the exact product, packaging, temperature instructions, dimensions, weight, loading condition, trailer requirements, route, and receiving window.

Refrigerated trucks parked for temperature-controlled food transportation

Refrigerated food transportation

A reefer should not be booked from the word “refrigerated” alone. The shipper must provide the required setpoint or range, loading temperature, pre-cooling instructions, operating mode, airflow or ventilation, packaging, and any monitoring request. Tetrix Transport coordinates temperature-controlled transportation from those written instructions and available qualified capacity. Tetrix Transport does not select the proper temperature, determine product shelf life, or validate the shipper’s packaging.

Cartons and palletized goods stored in a commercial warehouse

Shelf-stable packaged food and beverage shipping

Dry van service can fit canned goods, bottled beverages, snacks, bakery products, packaged ingredients, and other shelf-stable freight. The quote should identify pallet count, dimensions, weight, stackability, packaging, product sensitivity, trailer condition, and seal requirements. Heavy beverages or dense canned products also require accurate weight and loading information so axle limits and pallet placement can be planned. Receiver appointments, purchase-order numbers, and unloading instructions should be confirmed before pickup.

Fresh pineapples stacked for distribution

Inbound ingredients and production supplies

Production can slow or stop when an ingredient, packaging component, or processing supply misses its receiving window. Tetrix Transport coordinates approved palletized ingredients, additives, packaging, containers, labels, and other inbound materials around plant hours and production schedules. Product compatibility, prior-cargo restrictions, odor concerns, temperature, sanitation, and trailer-condition requirements should be supplied in writing. Bulk liquid, pneumatic, hopper, hazardous, or regulated products require separate review and specialized equipment.

Distributor and retail distribution center delivery

Food distributors and retail distribution centers often control delivery through strict appointments and routing guides. Send the purchase order, appointment number, pallet labels, seal procedure, temperature-verification request, lumper process, pallet-exchange rule, and check-in instructions before pricing is finalized. Tetrix Transport places confirmed requirements in the shipment plan and communicates them to the selected carrier. Missing references or an incorrect delivery date can cause detention, rejection, or a costly redelivery.

LTL food and beverage freight

LTL can fit smaller quantities of properly packaged, durable, and accepted food or beverage products. Accurate freight class, dimensions, weight, stackability, value, temperature limits, and destination access help Tetrix Transport request the correct service. Because LTL freight normally passes through terminals and shares trailer space, packaging and product compatibility require closer review. Appointment, liftgate, limited-access, and handling requirements should be included in the first quote for less-than-truckload shipping.

Semi-trucks traveling on a highway in the United States

United States, Canada, and Mexico food freight

Cross-border food freight requires more than a pickup number and customs invoice. Tetrix Transport coordinates qualified transportation after the commodity, product eligibility, commercial documents, customs broker, border handoff, inspection requirements, equipment, and final appointment are established. The shipper and importer remain responsible for accurate filings, permits, certificates, prior notices, and admissibility requirements. Perishable transit time should include realistic border and inspection contingencies rather than a domestic-lane estimate.

Cartons and palletized goods stored in a commercial warehouse

Foodservice and restaurant supply freight

Foodservice freight may serve distributors, commissaries, restaurant groups, hospitality operations, or institutional kitchens with narrow receiving hours. The shipment plan should identify product temperature, stop sequence when applicable, appointment references, unloading method, pallet configuration, and location restrictions. Tetrix Transport coordinates accepted freight around those instructions and legal transit time. Multi-stop, inside-delivery, liftgate, driver-assist, or pallet-jack service must be requested and confirmed before pickup.

Worker in a cold storage facility for temperature-sensitive food products

Frozen and chilled freight

Frozen and chilled products cannot be treated as one generic temperature-controlled category. The shipper should provide the exact setpoint or range, acceptable limits, loading temperature, pre-cooling, trailer mode, packaging, loading pattern, monitoring, and receiver procedure. Tetrix Transport uses those written requirements to source suitable capacity and plan the appointment. Mixed products are accepted only when their temperature, airflow, odor, sanitation, and compatibility requirements can share the same transportation environment.

Bottled water moving along a factory production line

Beverage distribution and transportation

Bottled, canned, and packaged beverages can create dense pallet weights and strict loading requirements. Share unit and pallet counts, total weight, packaging, glass content, pallet stability, temperature sensitivity, seal instructions, and receiver appointments before booking. Tetrix Transport coordinates dry van or temperature-controlled capacity from the product profile and seasonal exposure. Alcoholic beverage freight is handled only when the shipper, receiver, carrier, route, and documentation meet applicable federal, state, and local requirements.

Workers loading harvested produce bins onto a farm truck

Seasonal promotions and peak-volume freight

Holiday demand, promotions, harvest cycles, weather, and product launches can tighten food and beverage capacity quickly. Share forecast volume, origins, destinations, equipment, temperature requirements, pickup days, receiving hours, and expected accessorials before the peak. Tetrix Transport can discuss lane options and capacity planning from that forecast, but a forecast is not a confirmed truck. Each load still requires an accurate tender, ready time, and accepted appointment.

Shrink-wrapped pallets stored on warehouse racks

Food warehousing and scheduled release

Approved food or beverage freight may need short-term staging, cross-docking, consolidation, or scheduled release. Tetrix Transport can coordinate warehousing and distribution when a suitable ambient, chilled, or frozen facility is available. Facility selection depends on the product, packaging, temperature, sanitation, allergen or odor concerns, pest-control requirements, handling, inventory instructions, and expected dwell time. Standard warehouse space should never be assumed suitable for food simply because pallet space is open.

Semi-trucks traveling on a highway in the United States

Recurring food and beverage lanes

Repeat lanes work best when product and operating requirements are documented and kept current. Share expected volume, shipping days, equipment, setpoint, washout or trailer-condition rules, loading time, seal procedure, delivery appointments, and known accessorials. Tetrix Transport can use that lane profile to discuss repeat or dedicated capacity, subject to carrier availability and confirmed tenders. Changes in product, origin, destination, packaging, temperature, or receiver rules should be reported before the next load is booked.

Semi-trucks traveling on a highway in the United States

North American food and beverage freight

Tetrix Transport coordinates domestic United States lanes and qualified food and beverage freight to or from Canada and Mexico. Equipment and service are selected from the actual product, temperature, packaging, schedule, documents, border plan, and receiver requirements. Cross-border freight is accepted only after eligibility, customs responsibilities, required filings, and handoffs are clear. Lane-specific capacity and timing are confirmed with each quote.

REFRIGERATED FREIGHT

Written temperature instructions before the reefer is booked

Temperature-controlled freight starts with the shipper’s product requirements: setpoint or range, loading temperature, pre-cooling, operating mode, airflow, packaging, sanitation, monitoring, and receiver procedure. Tetrix Transport coordinates the equipment and transportation plan from those instructions. Product that is not at the required loading condition should not be tendered as though the trailer can correct it in transit.

Refrigerated trucks parked for temperature-controlled food transportation

DRY VAN FREIGHT

Shelf-stable products still need suitable equipment

Dry van capacity can fit packaged food, canned products, bottled beverages, ingredients, packaging, and other freight that does not require active temperature control. Trailer condition, cleanliness, dryness, odor, prior-cargo restrictions, seals, packaging, and weather sensitivity should be reviewed before loading. The shipper determines whether the product is suitable for ambient transportation and supplies any protective requirements.

Dry van trailer parked at a warehouse gate

FTL & LTL

Choose the mode from volume, handling, and product risk

FTL gives the shipment a dedicated trailer and usually fewer handling points, which may suit larger, sensitive, or appointment-critical loads. LTL may lower cost for smaller pallet quantities, but it normally adds terminal handling and shared-trailer exposure. Product durability, packaging, temperature, compatibility, transit, value, freight class, and total accessorial cost should guide the choice.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What food and beverage freight does Tetrix Transport coordinate?

Tetrix Transport coordinates commercial freight for food producers, ingredient suppliers, processors, bottlers, distributors, foodservice companies, retailers, warehouses, and their vendors. Common shipments include packaged and canned foods, snacks, bakery products, palletized ingredients, frozen and chilled products, produce, dairy products, bottled or canned beverages, packaging, and production supplies. Every load is reviewed from the actual product, packaging, temperature, trailer, sanitation, handling, and receiving requirements. Bulk liquid, pneumatic, hopper, hazardous, live-animal, unpackaged, or otherwise regulated freight requires specific disclosure and may fall outside our standard scope.

What information do you need for an accurate food freight quote?

Provide the exact product, packaging, piece or pallet count, dimensions, total weight, declared value, origin, destination, ready date, and delivery deadline. Identify the requested equipment, loading temperature, setpoint or range, pre-cooling, operating mode, ventilation, trailer-condition or washout standards, seal process, monitoring, and product-compatibility requirements. Include pickup and delivery appointments, purchase-order numbers, pallet labels, lumper or pallet-exchange rules, dock access, and exception contacts. Missing information can change the carrier, rate, equipment, or acceptance after booking.

Can Tetrix Transport arrange refrigerated, frozen, and chilled food transportation?

Yes, Tetrix Transport coordinates temperature-controlled transportation for qualified products when suitable capacity is available. The shipper must provide the product’s required setpoint or range, acceptable limits, loading temperature, pre-cooling, operating mode, airflow, packaging, sanitation, monitoring, and receiver instructions. Tetrix Transport arranges transportation from those written requirements; it does not determine the correct temperature, validate packaging, or certify product condition. Product details and operating instructions must be reviewed before acceptance.

Do you arrange food-grade trailers and sanitary transportation?

Tetrix Transport can request carrier and trailer conditions supplied by the shipper, including cleanliness, dryness, odor, prior-cargo restrictions, washout documentation, pest concerns, and equipment condition. The responsible shipper or loader should inspect and accept the trailer before loading and provide any applicable sanitary-transportation procedures. Tetrix Transport does not issue food-safety certifications, determine whether equipment meets a product’s regulatory requirements, or replace the shipper’s food-safety plan. Any rejected trailer or condition concern should be reported before freight is loaded.

Should food and beverage freight move by FTL or LTL?

Full truckload freight gives the shipment a dedicated trailer and usually fewer transfers, which may suit larger, sensitive, high-value, temperature-controlled, or appointment-critical loads. Less-than-truckload shipping can be economical for smaller quantities of properly packaged and durable products, but freight normally moves through terminals and shares trailer space. The better choice depends on volume, packaging, temperature, compatibility, value, freight class, handling tolerance, transit, and receiver requirements. Perishable, fragile, leaking, odor-sensitive, or contamination-sensitive products may not suit a standard LTL network.

Can food and beverage freight be stored and released on a delivery schedule?

Tetrix Transport can coordinate warehousing and distribution, cross-docking, consolidation, or scheduled release for approved freight when a suitable facility is available. Before acceptance, we review the product, packaging, quantity, ambient or temperature requirements, sanitation, compatibility, pest-control needs, handling, inventory instructions, dwell time, and final-delivery appointment. Standard warehouse space is not automatically suitable for food, beverages, allergens, frozen products, chilled products, alcohol, or freight requiring a certified environment. Facility scope and responsibility must be confirmed before the freight arrives.

Does Tetrix Transport coordinate food freight between the United States, Canada, and Mexico?

Yes, Tetrix Transport coordinates qualified truckload and LTL food freight through Canada cross-border freight and Mexico cross-border freight services. The shipper or importer must provide accurate commercial documents, product descriptions, values, country-of-origin information, customs contacts, permits, certificates, registrations, and any required prior notices. The responsible parties should confirm product eligibility and customs responsibilities before pickup. Border handoffs, inspections, carrier requirements, temperature, legal transit, and final appointments are reviewed for each shipment.

Can Tetrix Transport support seasonal volume, recurring lanes, or drop trailers?

Yes. For seasonal or recurring freight, provide expected volume, frequency, equipment, product requirements, shipping days, loading time, delivery appointments, and known accessorials as early as possible. Tetrix Transport can also review drop trailer service for qualified recurring dry freight when the plant or distribution center has suitable yard space, security, and operating procedures. Forecasts and program discussions do not reserve equipment until the lane, carrier, trailer plan, and individual tenders are confirmed.
